So it's been pretty busy and eventful in my flat this week! Just as I was getting ready for my friend's wedding last Saturday and about to jump in the shower, my boiler decided to finally give up the ghost. However, it wasn't all bad as Pimlico Plumbers came to the rescue the next day and it's actually been a great opportunity to install a really energy efficient boiler. I went for the Vaillant ecoTEC pro 24, which is an 'A' rated boiler and has an excellent energy efficiency of 92.3%. At the same time I also had the lovely guys (Jack, Ben and Ryan) from Sash Window Preservation around to do my windows. My flat isn't that big so it was quite cosy with all five of us, and I lost count of how many teas and coffees I made!
I found Sash Window Preservation at Grand Designs Live London and I chose them for several reasons. Firstly I love the fact that they can use the existing wooden frames - great for the environment as well maintaining the beautiful original features of the property. Secondly they can convert single pane windows into double glazing, significantly improving insulation and reducing the energy it requires to heat the room. I had quotes for PVC and for new wooden double glazed windows, however Sash preservation came in at less than half the price, and they also work on a fixed fee basis so no nasty surprises. They did my sash window in my dining room and also my french doors and windows in the lounge. From start to finish Sash Window Preservation have been very polite, helpful and very professional and I really recommend them.
