7 smoothies, 7 days: Give yourself a natural and easy vitamin boost

sashi smith

Hi all, I hope you're having a good week!

This week I have decided to try a health kick and I have set myself a challenge of making 7 different smoothies in 7 days. Living in London tends to leave me feeling forever short of time. I often leave home early and get back late, and as a result my diet often isn't as good as it could be. Therefore I have decided to try out recipes that are super simple and can be made in around 5 mins using just a blender. I will use organic ingredients where possible, since studies have shown organic produce have a higher nutritional content, along within being better for the environment and wildlife. (To read more check out The Soil Association). So for inspiration for how to work a vitamin boost into your busy day check out the recipes below. I hope you find this useful and it inspires you to make your own smoothies. If you like please share with friends!

DAY 1 : Apple and ginger

2 handfuls of spinach

1 cored and chopped apple (I went for a Pink Lady as it's nice and sweet and I left the skin on for those extra vitamins)

1/2 glass of apple juice

1.5cm of chopped fresh ginger

2 mint leaves to garnish (from my herb basket!)

Just drop the ingredients into the blender and press go! Where possible why not try organic ingredients, in my smoothie I used an organic apple and organic apple juice

DAY 2: Blueberry and avocado

1/2 cup of water

1/2 cup of blueberries

1/2 banana peeled

1/4 ripe avocado deskinned and roughly chopped

1 big handful of spinach

Sweeten to your liking with honey

Just drop the ingredients into the blender and press go!

Where possible why not try organic ingredients, in my smoothie I used organic blueberries and an organic banana

Day 3: Carrot, Kiwi and Pineapple

1/2 cup of water

1 chopped carrot

1/2 banana peeled

1 kiwi peeled and roughly chopped

1 apple cored and sliced

1 cup of chopped pineapple (for ease you can use unsweetened tinned pineapple as I did)

Put everything in a blender et voila! Why not try organic ingredients, I used an organic apple, banana and carrot.

DAY 4: Mango and Cashew Nuts

1/2 mango peeled and roughly chopped

1/4 cup of cashew nuts

1 banana peeled and broken in half

1 handful of spinach

1 cup of almond milk

Put everything in a blender et voila! Why not try organic ingredients, I used an organic banana, mango and cashew nuts.

Day 5: Broccoli and Cinnamon

1 cup of almond milk (or cows milk - but I would add more honey)

1/2 banana peeled

1 small bunch of broccoli florets roughly chopped (don't go too heavy on the broccoli, the more you add the more bitter it becomes)

1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon

Sweeten to your liking with honey

Put everything in a blender and press go! Why not try organic ingredients, I used an organic banana, honey and cinnamon.

Day 6: Banana and Peanut Butter

1 cup of almond milk (if using cows milk add more honey)
1/2 cup of plain natural yogurt
1/2 banana peeled
1 tablespoon of peanut butter
2 handfuls of spinach
Sweeten to your liking with honey
Put everything in a blender et voila! Why not try organic ingredients? I used an organic banana, yogurt, honey, and milk

Day 7: Orange and Carrot

This is really yummy and refreshing
1 orange peeled and roughly chopped
1 large carrot peeled and roughly chopped
2 celery sticks roughly chopped
1 slice of pineapple roughly chopped (for ease you can use unsweetened tinned pineapple like I did)
1/2 glass of water
Sweeten to your liking with honey
Put everything in a blender et voila! Why not try organic ingredients? I used an organic banana, carrot, and orange
