..that time of year? Yes it's true!
Valentine's Day is on the 14th February each year and commemorates a Christian saint called Valentinus. Several stories exist with the most popular being an account of Saint Valentine of Rome, who was imprisoned for performing weddings for soldiers who were forbidden to marry. According to legend, during his imprisonment, he healed the daughter of his jailer, Asterius. An embellishment to this story states that before his execution he wrote her a letter signed "Your Valentine" as a farewell. It was not until Chaucer when the tradition of courtly love was flourishing that the day became associated with romantic gestures. In 18th-century England, it evolved into an occasion in which lovers expressed their love for each other by presenting flowers, offering confectionery, and sending greeting cards (known as "valentines"). So why not keep this centuries old tradition alive and use it as an opportunity to remind your loved, just how special they are!
